I took a quick drive on the loop west of town tonight and I saw something I was not expecting. I drove right past it, and when I was able to stop and look closer I realized it wasn’t an escaped calf, but a fawn. A very shaggy fawn.
It was mostly hidden behind the bank of a ditch that runs along the edge of the fields at this location. After a stare down long enough to take a quick photo, enough was enough and it beat a path across a hay field.
