March 10, 2011: While I was feeding this morning one of the cows was at the water trough. Try as I may, she would not lower her head enough to have her eyes visible between the boards of the fence, and I didn't want to kneel in the frost.
These animals are just a year old. They were pets as babies, then they spent a summer in the mountain range with their mothers and they are definitely shy.
