Misty Sunrise

September 19, 2011: Looking across the valley from the high point near my home town I could see mist rising here and there above any open water. Further along my way I stopped to take this photo of a tree in the misty sunrise.

Star Spangled Banner

September 11, 2011: On this day of remembrance I watched an excerpt of a video production of the attacks of 9/11, until I was not able to watch any more. I thought it fitting to post the symbol of our great country in thankfulness for those who in the past and present have fought to protect our freedoms, and for the fellow public safety personnel who serve and protect every day.

Colored Commute

Colored Commute

September 8, 2011: A cloudless sky might not produce much in the way of spectacular sunrise colors, but there must have been a bit of haze this morning to provide a beautiful yellow cast when the sun arrived in the valley. After turning a corner on a county road during my morning commute I had to stop to snap this photo. The overnight temperatures had produced a slight mist from the standing water on either side of the road, and the sun reflecting off the mist and pretty much every other surface was too nice of a scene to overlook. No post processing beyond a reduction in size for ease of handling.

Line Between Dark and Light

The Bear River Range rises into the sky on the east side of Cache Valley and today – as on many other days - the rising sun etched a line between dark and light along the ridges of the mountains.

Interrupted

Our visit to the hills west of town tonight interrupted the relaxation of a mule deer doe, and after posing for a few photos she began to leave the area for a more private supper.
